Thank you everyone who could make it to our sixth and final Round of the 2011 Summer Series at Pittwater.
It has indeed been a wonderful season for the series, and over all a huge success thanks to the fantastic support of so many people in our amazing community of paddlers, the awesome support of our amazing team of volunteers & ambassadors, and the backing of our supporting partners and sponsors.
We will have a full race report posted in the next day or two, along with our full event photo gallery.

Congratulations to everyone who could make it to Round 1 of the 2011 Summer Series at Balmoral.
We had three very hotly contested races this morning. The 2.5 KM and 5.0 KM SUP races were just fantastic to watch as competitors completed either one or two loops of the course with some very close finishes. Watching the 2.5 KM race join the 5.0 KM race as the first lead pack came through gave the beach full of spectators a very exciting race to watch.
The Open race was also exciting from start to finish, and the final battle for the top ten places was so close that spectators along the beach...

Fat Paddlers Guide to Racing Events for Recreational Kayakers
As a recreational kayaker, I can understand why the thought of racing might be a turn off to other kayakers out there. The juxtaposition of buff, fit macho looking ski and outrigger paddlers pushing their sleek rockets with ease at ridiculous speeds through ocean swell and chop vs our usually somewhat more tubby selves in our built-for-comfort enclosed kayaks leaves a little too much room for deep self-doubt and loathing!
